Spirit Radio and Kids Guide Talk Science and Math Activities for Kids!

Spirit Radio weekend presenter Jacki Ascough asked Kids Guide Chief Cheer Leader Geraldine Smythe to talk about fun kid activities related to science and math around Ireland this summer.

Geraldine talks with Jacki about Kids Guide and our mission to share the fun! Jacki asks about summer planning for getting the best opportunities for your child for great camps.

Jacki says “kudos to you, Geraldine, for putting this together because I think it’s long overdue and it’s great to have somewhere where parents can go to get some great ideas instead of having to do a long, drawn-out search and finding absolutely nothing!”

Geraldine recommends:

Easons Saturday Storytimes for kids. “Every Saturday in participating Eason stores around the country we hold our Get Into Reading Story Time, where we read a selected kids book to children aged from 0-6 (and parents too!!).”

Phoenix Park Sunday Art Cart Workshops. Suitable for children age 6 years to 12 years inclusive, activities change weekly and include things like felt making, medieval life, collage, and how to make a card for your teacher!

Connemara Maths Academy Summer Camps. “Learning through discovery, creativity and adventure is the corner stone of our educational philosophy, promoting critical thinking, problem solving and educated risk taking through challenging, stimulating and intensive residential programmes and summer camps at Kylemore Abbey, Glenstal Abbey and Killary Adventure Centre on the West Coast of Ireland.” Camps for kids ages 10-17.

Schull and Fitbones Summer Camps. “Schull & Fitbones provide adventure challenges, fitness and outdoor activities in beautiful West Cork and the Mizen peninsula in the south of Ireland.” Camps are offered for kids ages 4-13 and focuses on outdoor activities.

Dublin Family Market. “Family Market with over 40 stalls selling hand made, locally produced crafts, organic food and drinks. There is a freindly and relaxed atmosphere, free face painting all day, free kids play corner, designated buggy area. We also organise workshops for kids and parents all day long, like art and music workshops, free story reading, baby sling wearing & potty training talks.” The next market is held 22 May at 12 Newmarket Dublin 8 from 11 to 5.
